Kids Computer Upgrade for gaming?

I am currently running a Celeron 1 gig, with a Nvidia geforce 2 64. the motherboard is a Asus CUV266 with a stick of 128 and 256 ddr ram. Where should i start upgrading to make it a better gaming machine? or should i just start over from scratch? I dont have a ton of money either hehe.

I would say an overhaul is due for a good gaming system. The most basic upgrade though is stay away from celerons, and durons. those are made for basic word processing and and internet surfing.

first grab a new processor/mobo. that should be an immense leap in performance for you.

Is it possible to keep the same case, hard drive, ram, etc. And just upgrade the motherboard and chip? I am thinkin a p4 2.4c and am also wondering what asus motherboard would be good.

Ya the computer store told me to go with celeron at the time, awhile back now. I have since learned to dislike celerons

you could prolly reuse the case itself, but you'll prolly need a bigger power supply. Do you know what wattage your current one is?
