My server/desktop wont shutdown?

Hi, im running a mini server/desktop model computer. I am having trouble getting it to shut down. I go to start, select turn off computer, and "NADDA", nothing happens....I waited for like 15 minutes cause maybe it had to shut down some programs, but still "NADDA"? Never had this happen before.

Any one wanna suggest anything?

would help to tell us the os, and maybe the system specs

it is running windows XP PRO, and no thing was updated.

This is a old desktop Dell, which has been converted into a server with an amd 2400, win xp pro, more HD, and a new MOBO.

Still hasnt shut down, been about 2 hours now....may just manually shutdown, but i shouldnt have to do this....something has to be wrong.

That happened to me a couple of times on different pc's. I just hit the reset button and it works back fine.

i have reset this machine 3 times and attempt to shutdown to make sure its ok, and same problem...

confused here....
