CD-ROM

First, is this the right forum. If it isn't sorry. But anyways I have a generic CD ROM and I'm trying to decrease the amount of clutter in my case. Do I need the wire that connects the CDROM with the audio? I know I need it if I want to listen to music directly off a CD, but I never do that. Can i go ahead and take out that wire for now?

If you play games, some require that cable for sound. If you are not a gamer at all, then you can remove it. It is also easily hidden by tucking it into various places along its route of travel between the SC and CD.

Well I mainly play SOF2 Mulitplayer(It doesn't use a disc) and Age of Mythology (I have a no-CD Launcher somewhere). So I will not need it, right?

If you're running XP you don't need it, it digitally transfers the sound info.

OK, good. I got XP so just in case I wanted to listen to music on a CD I don't have to plug the wire back in. Thanks daveleau and jmebonner.
