Radeon 9800 vs 9800 Pro

Both 128mb.

Whats the big difference between the cards to separate the Pros from the Cons?

Doesn't Pro have a TV-Out? I noticed the same thing. There's really not much of a difference.

A TV-Out?

That's it?

HAHAHA, and that card is like 300+ minimum for a TV out i'll never use. There has to be more to it than that.

The ATi web site is very vague and does not tell the differences. Looking on pricewatch, they all look the same. I can find no site that tells the differences. Very strange.

extra bandwidth, pixel shading, blah, blah, you know, it's just better, faster.

If you buy a sapphire or similar 9800 NP though, you can flash the card to make it a 9800 pro, then overclock it some more .

and the 9800 i'm getting has TV out, it's NP.

Also, does the 9800 non-pro have all 8 pipelines enabled?

Or is that the Pro version like the 9500 was to the 9700

the only difference between most (i think) radeon pro's and np's is it's gpu and memory clock speeds. They are identical in every other way. 9800 Pro = 380gpu/340mem ; 9800 NP = 325/290
you can probably overclock a 9800np to pro speeds pretty easy, if u get the faster samsung ram (2.8ns) , i think the sapphires 9800np have it.

Sweet,

I look forward to the arrival of my 9800 np on thursday/friday to replace this crappy temporary FX 5200. Man, this thing doesn't even match the quality or framerates of my 9500 pro.

Was $250 a good price for the NP?
