Strip the Case?

My dad and I are getting ready to install a 92mm blowhole on the top of my Antec Lanboy case, and I suggested we strip the case first, so no metal shards will cause a short, but he says we can turn it on the side so the metal shards will fall down but I really doubt this is going to work right. Is there any way to get the side casing off the Antec Lanboy case?

I'm not sure about getting the side off, but if it does not come off, take everything out. The metallic dust will fly around and could cause severe problems with the circuitry of the boards. Some are very sensitive. Any time I cut holes, I always take everything out of the case first.

Um, could you tell me a safe place to place the parts? Would a bed do fine?

If you have those electrically safe silver bags, that would be best. But if not, I would not set them on the bed because of lint. I would find a cardboard box or wood table to set it and then be sure to touch something large and metal (stove or refrigerator or more conveniently the doorknob) just before touching the parts to discharge any static electricity.
