Systems Wont boot up

Hey everyone I've been having some problems with this AMD 1800+ xp cpu. When I first got it I could only run it at 1145mhz instead of what its meant to be 1.5ghz. I tried changing the CPU frequency but after I'd boot windows it would just freeze after about 30 seconds. I figured the problem might be overheating, so I changed the fan to a Volcano 7 then went ahead and changed the frequency higher but now it wont even POST (all that happens is the cd-rom's spin and theres no beeping noises or anything). Now I was going to go ahead and reset the cmos to default but then the power switch no longer works so the power supply must of died. My question is do you think the CPU/board is now dead? Or if I just get another PSU I can reset the cmos and it will be fine and dandy?

PS: Im using a ECS K75A mobo.

You might have broken your CPU when you put on your new volcano 7 HS. Have you tried taking it off to look at your CPU for damage? you might also want to try unplugging your PSU from the wall and from the motherboard and taking out the battery for a couple of minutes to try and reset the BIOS that way.

The CPU isn't broken because it booted fine after changing the heatsink/fan it was just after changing the frequency.

Do like Buzioid said and reset the bios by taking out the batery for like 30 seconds to a minute and unplugging your psu from the wall and the mobo. Check the ECS forum at AMDmb.com too.

I seriously doubt you can kill your PSU by changing the frequency on the board. More likely is that you killed your board. Check http://www.fonerbooks.com/power.htm to diagnose your power supply prob. Also you can try manually turning on your PSU by shorting pins 14 and 15 on the connector, check http://xtronics.com/reference/atx_pinout.htm for the pinout diagram of a standard ATX PSU.
