Which Hard drive?

My WD 80gb just crapped out on me after 6 months of use another quality product from wd

anyway, i am debating between IBM 120gb 8mb ata100
and
maxtor 120gb 8mb ata133

i will not be doing raid, but my main question here is, the ibm is only ata100, so do you think i should get the maxtor? or will the difference between ata133 and ata100 not even be that noticable?

The difference between ata100 and ata 133 is not noticeable at all, but i would pay 4 more dollars and get the Maxtor.

I have this maxtor HD, and I have to say it's pretty good.

Maxtor does have an excellent RMA system...

So I would go with the Maxtor.

A couple of years ago I had no confidence in Maxtor HD's. Now I see they make some of the best drives around. I'd go for the Maxtor. My PC has 2 40GB and 2 80GB Maxtors in it right now. No probs with them so far.

Some of those IBMs are unreliable...I'd go with the Maxtor

I'm not sure why people think there's no noticeable difference between ata100 and ata133 ... my install times for WinXP went down when I got a motherboard that supported UDMA mode 6 ...same CPU ... same RAM ... just a better IDE controlle

This has hardly happened over a week. I have had 3 westerns in my lifetime, and 5 maxtors. Every single western has failed, EVERY ONE! to me, this tells me the product is a piece of trash, as compared to my maxtors, one dating back 4 years, and is still crusing along. WD had their chance, and after this latest failure, they have lost me as a customer.

I went and ordered the maxtor, hoping to get it here soon. thx for the help.
