JPEG images? WTF!!!

I have just recieved an email that had a mozilla JPEG attachment but i cant open it. It is one of those emails where the picture is actually there in the bottom of the email and is also an attachment. the problem is i cant open the attachment. When i try to it gives me the program not found window. and says i need
NETSCP6.EXE to open it. Then i tried saving it to my pictures and i noticed that it wouldn't let me open any jpeg files when i tried in my documents it just gave me cryptic text crap. NVM I just figured out how to do it. I went to insert>picture>from file and then it worked fine. But can somone tell me why that is the only way i can open it? it would be alot easier if i could just click open to view the images.

if your file is labeled .jpeg
try changing it to .jpg
