Do I wire from the wall to the router to the modem, or from the wall to the modem, then out of the 10/10 card to the router, then how does the networking part work. Or shoulf I save the hassle, buy an external modem and stick with the 54g wireless router. |
The easiest way is going to be to buy an external modem, bridge the connection to your router and off you go.
It can be done with an eternal modem, but you will need to add a NIC so that you can still connect to the router as well. You would add the cable from the NIC to the uplink or "in" port of your router.
As far as how you would "wire" it, it will always be from the wall, to modem, to what-ever. The modem is what converts your signal.
Any router should work with an enternal modem as long as you have it set up correctly. The brand doesn't matter if it has the features that you want. My personal prefrence is Linksys.
Hope this information helps.
