Questions:

Is the rig new or used? Any parts used? Is the memory "value ram" or a quality make?
Do you use a modem to connect? or dsl/cable or other??
Is it ONLY when you connect that it crashes?? NO other times?
Have you tried to play games on this rig? any glitches then?
The power supply high quality or cheapest you are willing to pay for??

I experienced some system weirdness (though not as extreme as you have) with my ASUS P4PE board with HT enabled... it turned out that my firewall, LNS 2.04, didn't work well with HT enabled (the LNSFW1 driver).

If your system works normally with HT disabled, try using a different FW as a test... Sygate 5 works very well for me with HT enabled.

If you have a NIC installed, try using the on-board mobo NIC.

I suspect that what you see is some serious conflict with your FW driver(s) and your system drivers competing for the same system resources.

TURN YOUR FIREWALL ON!!!

Their, I said it.

I may be wrong, but you should be running DDR400 instead of DDR333. Anyone else chime in?

u have to install the OS with HT previously enabled in order for it to work properly or else it would just hurt performance.
