nVidia Dets 45.23 fail DirectX tests
I installed the new nVidia dets 45.23 from nVidia's site. WHQL certified and all. After, my desktop took forever to appear from the Windows Logon Screen. When it finally appeared, there were no icons. Had to open Control Panel from the Start menu and then the icons appeared. Also, did the DirectX tests and the DirectX 8 hardware acceleration test did not display the spinning cube . . . the screen was blank. The DirectX 7 test worked OK. Desktop loads at a crawl the first time. Decided to return to 44.03 and now DirectX tests all pass but still desktop does not load correctly. Never had trouble with nVidia dets before. Installed many times with no problem. Any ideas what might be wrong? Jim

Did you uninstall the previous drivers first? Mine installed fine, but I went to Add/Remove Programs and removed the old drivers first, and rebooted so I could install the new ones in glorious VGA mode. Can't beat working with Windows when everything is made of Lego-blocks on your 19" monitor, eh? Try that, and report back.

I may try that but I have always installed right over the old without removing before. Once I did Add/Remove and had to use the CD to reinstall my video card and reinstall 4 in 1's to replace the AGP driver. Don't care to go through that again. Someone suggested DirectX 9.0b . . .what do you think about that? Jim

I've running DX9.0b since its first releasewith Detonator 41.09 and now I'm running it with 45.23 running TI-4200 and no problems here...

NDC,
Do you install Dets right over the old or take off in Add/Remove before. Just curious what works best for you?

I just installed them over existing drivers.
Seem to work fine for my setup.
I've allways done that with little or no problems at all.

Personally, I don't like to install over existing ones. It's ok to install over existing drivers, but I just don't like to take that small chance. I uninstall old drivers first. Some Detonator drivers won't even let you install over exisintg ones. It will tell you to uninstall existing drivers dirst...

It's not a real huge deal to uninstall the previous versions, right? Might as well, I've seen many problems that were fixed simply by removing and redoing drivers, and not just Detonators.

Well your right about that articfox, it's good practice to do that when you could end up running into issues, however i never once had a problem upgrading over old nvidia drivers ever.
These ones are working decently on windows server 2003.
