Gah! What the hell happened?!
My machine has been running along just fine, and I come home today......it won't post...nothing on the Monitor...just a dead screen, and I get no *beep like I should...what gives?! I tried a different video card thinking my new GF4ti mighta crapped out on me, but to no avail...even reset the CMOS. Any ideas guys? I was hoping to come home with my new Belkin router and get both computers hooked up! Now I finally got the wifes up and running and mine takes a crap on me! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

I had this happen and it was my power supply that died (I got nothing when I hit the switch). Any of the component could be a factor, though, so I'd try stripping the machine down to just the porcessor, mobo and power and see if it will post. If it doesn't, then try another psu.
With all of the power issues in the NE, it could be a surge, God forbid.

Everything powers up...fans, lights, HDD's, CDRom and DVD drives...I get no 'roger' beep like I get normally when it starts, which I dunno what that is supposed to confirm...
Anyway, here's the scenario as it played out from running to not.
The wife was online on my system downloading themes from ThemeDoctor, and when she finished, she ran my AVG ( antiviurs Guard ) and shut off the monitor. I woke up this morning and ran to work...came home and she tells me that she couldn't get the system running....nothing on the monitor. I reboot a few times, reset the CMOS....try a different video card, even tried putting in Knoppix....I dunno why, I don't even get the post screen, nor does my monitor click like it's getting a video signal from the computer ( which I double checked by using two different video cards, just in case ). This drives me nuts because I can't even access anything on my system. ( I even disconnected the whole system from the outlet and let it sit for 5 minutes hoping perhaps something would reset...)

strip it down to one stick of ram...video card..cpu...hard drive.....try it there and see whats up. Pull out the other cards such as modems, nics, firewire, usb2 cards etc. Unhook all the ide drives and floppy...lol.
Its a pain to do but in this case you need to do it to know for sure whats up. If it boots fine in the stripped configuration..start adding stuff back and see what makes it gag.

Could still be power supply, red. Might just be one single voltage line.
Got another one just to try with? That would rule that out.
JP's right: trouble shoot the whole thing. COuld be mobo, not likely to be CPU if no beeps.
Good luck
Cheers
Mick

Can be the modem's gone dead. It'll keep the system from booting. Like John Prophet said, pull the cards.

Not what I wanted to hear guys!
Well, other than pulling the PS from the wifes computer....
I'll have to go ahead and strip down the computer I guess. I just don't get why it would just die like that...
At least the other computer is running so I'm not completely cut off from civilization
I'll let you know if I get anywhere with this guys..thanks.

I'm going to try a different monitor also. I'll keep everyone updated.

Quote---> "I just don't get why it would just die like that..."
lol.
As was stated, I have seen dead modems (after lightning storms) totally keep a machine from making any noises or beeps at all...just totally shorting out the whole system....pull the modem, system works fine.
I dont necesarily think that is your problem, but something is hangin it up.
Sometimes you can do that "reset escd" thin gin bios and it will boot..and sometimes it will only boot once when you do that and it'll need resetting again, lol.
But maybe a card went bad and is failing to initialize or something like that.
As soon as you pull the cards I think you will find the answer.
On another note, have you changed any BIOS settings lately?
