Does blaster disable xp firewall somehow?

My aunts xp home laptop has blaster...or at least had it. She told me it was giving the message about disconencting for remote this or that..anyway I ran the symantec fix tool and it didnt find any blaster. Her norton antivirus was current as of 8/13 so maybe she had it but the norton cleaned it.

BUT...now her firewall wont start....it is giving me an error about the dependency group not starting blah blah. I briefly looked at it this afternoon, then brought it home but I havent looked at it again yet. Among the things the firewall "depends" on to run is the rpc and rpc locator...both of which seemed to be running.

Is there any word out about blaster disabling XP's firewall? Any word how to fix it? lol.

Thanks, JP

Nah, it just had one of the other services turned off that the firewall depended on. Probably due to the fact that I turned off about a dozen "unneeded" services for my aunt to get this thing leaner and cleaner...hmm, now I need to go check my other xp machines to make sure I havent wiped out the firewall on those! yikes.

The mods I speak of were the ones on www.blackviper.com ..I used the "safe" config.
