Not the worm???

I have a big problem and dont think it is the worm, symptoms different, every thing looks OK fans and all. all was working fine. turned it on and . ouch. no warning glitches or any thing.
I have win Me, and understand the worm doesnt effect it, my comp boots up to the desktop with the big cat pic. and curser stays hourglass, which wont move, nothing more loads. wont load either floppy or CD,
I can with some effort get the CMOS settings but no help there.

Help please.

Or have you installed new hardware progs?

Deinstalled windows features?
