No sound, K7S5A Pro

New build, no sound. Installed drivers, nothing.

K7S5A Pro
XP2000
WD 80g HDD
XP Pro OS

I upgraded Mobo and cpu without formatting. I hoped it would just swap into the new hardware. Upgraded from K7S5A ver.3 and XP 1800+. Swap went good and everything worked except for the sound.

Help, give me a starting point.

Where are you PeterM?

Only things I can come up with are to check the sound properties to make sure nothing is muted and check to make sure the onboard sound (if so equipped) is enabled in the BIOS.

One more thing. Are the speaker wires connected to the sound output?

Speakers connected properly and bios is configured correct. I double checked.

Hmmm... Remove the offending device, reboot and reinstall?

I only use this machine at the fire station so my next option is to install a sound card. I mentioned the fire station because I really don't need awesome sound, just sound.

I've been working on my drop kick so I'll try that before the hammer.

Speakers powered up? Is there a sound device control panel that has sound adjustments?

What? Nobody else has any ideas?
