Fickle Monitor

Not sure where this goes exaclty. Sorry about that

For the past 6 months now my monitor will just go blank. the light stays on and the screen goes black then turns to a purplish blue.

At first i thought the monitor was shot so i put my old one in place and hooked it up to my other computer to play around with it. I hit the table kinda hard one day and it popped back on. Then i tested it again that a little shaking of the monitor jars it back on.

a few more times i checked the wires and the plugs and that did it a few times then stoped. then back the shaking. Sometimes it takes a few seconds, sometimes it's minutes.

Monitor: Dell M991 Color Monitor
Graphics Card: Geforce 2 Ultra

Not sure if it's a problem with the card or a problem with the monitor.

sounds like a signal problem to me...I had similar problems after hooking up a KVM switch to my computer...degraded the signal and wasnt making good connection...
I would replace the cable and make sure all connections are tight...no bent pins or anything.
take off the back cover maybe and see if anything is loose... MUST use caution ...alot of stored electrical power ion a monitor...not for weak of heart...could be dangerous if not careful.

Hmm.. how would i go about replacing the cable. It doesnt just exactly pop out of the monitor.
