I'm not familiar with the board you have but since your using a PCI vid card instead of AGP? perhaps you need to change the primary display device in BIOS to PCI.

How long have you waited? I dont have a Gigabyte mainboard either but I know my Soyo Dragon has a 10 second period after I power on before the VGA signal is passed through to the monitor. Can you hear HDD activity? Try another stick of RAM at 133 if possible. You can reset the CMOS to also. More than likely you will need to get to the BIOS first. So dont let it boot. Hit your power ON and starting torturing that Delete key.

IIRC, all cards should work fine in text mode up until after the BIOS is finished, if the memory is good. Pull all other cards, drop down to one stick of memory, try booting again.
If still no good:
Make CERTAIN that the card is fully inserted into the PCI connector,
Make CERTAIN that no pins got bent on the monitor cable.
ALWAYS screw the thumbscrews in (I got a brand new 17" monitor for free because the screws did not get tightened).
Make certain the monitor is not damaged, make certain the brightness and contrast are set properly.
I know I sound like I'm calling you an idiot, but I have done all of these things at one time or another, I believe you could do them too.

And make sure it is pluged into a working wall socket!
BTW: is there a "stand by" or "on" light glowing on your monitor?
