HP officejet and phone lines

Does the officejet have to be turned on for the phone line pass thru from the officejet to the computer modem to get a call to PCAnywhere on the computer?

Main phone line goes to officejet and the pass thru jack on the officejet is connected to the modem in jack.

Thanks,

Bill

Plug a regular ol phone into it and see if you get a dial tone. Modems in pc's will pass the call through the second port when the pc is off...

Got an Office Jet all in one. Make sure you have the right jacks on o.j. for lines and set to monitor line for fax tones. This works for me with Office J. on or off. Good Luck. Brian
