That's why it's a time machine. It uses technology salvaged from ages ago... |

Truckie,
Get a real quality case/power supply with that setup like an Antec, which I used for that setup. Flash to the latest bios and you should be good to go. Run the mem86 test on those memory sticks since it sounds like it is a pc100 variety/older.
If you have problems setting it up. Come back here or google for ecs ks5a and you should have lots of hits.

re: quality case and power suppy.
What size power supply do you think i should run for this setup. I already have an antec case with a 250watt psu. (probably not good enough). This case and psu is about 1 year old or close to it anyway. the memory was from a CA64-EC mobo from my now scrapped intel computer, and another stick was from and old HP8560c pavillion model with a 500 mhz cpu setup. Will they still work with the k7s5a pro board?
Also, about the video card, the (ECS 64MB SiS315 4XAGP)...is it worth using, or should i find another card?...I have the ECS 64MB SiS315 4XAGP, with a cooling setup already on it(done by ebay seller when i bought it), and dont wanna waste it if i dont need too...
Any reply about what i could do with what i have would be appreciated!

Truckie,
I've got LUCKY with an Antec202 250w PS, the rest I had to use at the minimum 300w PS. With a burner, cd rom and this mobo a 350w PS should be the starting point. Better for latter use/upgradeability.
For memory, try to have them all the same speed. Otherwise. slowest stick is the max you will get out of the two sticks. Do not mix, ddr and sdram as an fyi.
Video card, have not used them. Should be okay for surfing, doubt it for gaming. Lots of gamers here, hang on.

Looks like a decent set-up to me, i wouldn't know for games because i dont play them, but if you doing anything like flash should be good enough (ive got a geforce 2 mx400 32MB)
BTW ,why is this in the graphic fourm? should be (?) in the general tech discussion mabye?

The ECS K7S5A board is known to be picky on power supplies and to some degree on the memory you use.
I would suggest picking up at least a 300 watt (350 recommended) power supply. My personal picks are Antecs and Enermax units, both good IMO. I have used Allied, Sparkle and Enhance with the K7S5A as well with no problems.
Here's a link for some tests on different power supplies: http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/20021021/index.html
As far as the memory, I would look into picking up a stick of 256 meg pc2100 as you can find them for $20.00 or less at places like BB, OM, OD or Staples AMIR. If the older mem you have is pc 100 it may give you problems as your CPU speed is 133.
As far as the vid card, it was introduced during the Geforce 2 era and was not up to speed at that time. I looked at them fpr builds here but never did buy one.
Should be fine for general computer use but probably not for newer games.
