FX 5900 GOOD?
Does anyone out there have a Leadtek Winfast 350TDH Geforce FX 5900 128Mb 8x AGP Graphics card? and if so what is your opinion on the card? is it one of the best? does it compete well with other cards? what are your thoughts about?

Welcome to TechIMO!
Second, all nVidia cards should perform the same within a frame or two in game tests. LeadTek makes good cards, although I'm still longing for VisionTek...
Browse around and find a good deal. If another card is cheaper, by all means go with it as it's going to be almost the same as the next guy.

Actually many times two or three cards take off against the other brands. These cards almost always come from MSI, Asus and what was Visiontek ... but Gainward makes great performing cards also.
We'll have to wait until there's more of a selection on the market to see who's is really best though.

There is nothing wrong with the reference cooler.
I can not even hear it and it runs cool.
This thing is even quieter than a Ti4600 and definately much, much quieter than the FX5800Ultra.

But seriously, does anyone need that much firepower in a video card? DoomIII is a ways away, HL2 is an excellent reason as DX9 is where it's at, but other than that and UT2k3, what's the logic? Theirs always something better around the corner. I'm using a Ti 4200 128mb OC'd to 305/545 with stock cooling (made by BFGTech), and it works well, although not as fast as the 9800 (NP or Pro) that I'm longing for... |

If you want to play games at 1600x1200 32 bitt resolution, have decent framerates, 4XAA, 8XAF, and future compatability of course you need the firepower.

Hi Arctic Fox,
What do you mean by stock cooling?
I'm currently using a Leadtek Winfast A280TDH Ti4800se 128DDR and I wonder how I can OC it. The card comes with a large heatsink covering almost the whole card with 2 fans. Should I OC it to 305/545?

To OC, you need to d/l powerstrip. Start by increasing in small increments(5-10mhz) and run graphics intense programs(3dmark,JK2,ect) and see if there are problems. If not, bump it up the next notch. Stock cooling is the hsf that came on your video card. You can buy different ones that perform better and replace just like you would with a cpu.
