Kids HD parameters ??

Hello, I have a P4 computer.
I would like to know which are the most important parameters of a HD (from the point of view of the "its speed of answer"), that I must consider at the moment for buying one.

Thanks.

A lot can depend on what the intended purpose of the machine will be.
Is this going to be a high end gaming machine or a business machine that needs high reliability or do you just want a deceint home machine or are you going to want to download huge quantites of mp3's or make this a home entertainment center ie. audio and video to replace most of your stereo and TV type functions?

speed of answer = response time?

By that do you mean seek time or access time?

Other parameters include rotational speed, which is usually 7,200 rpm but there are exceptions. Also, number of platters and areal density (How many gigabytes on each platter) but when you start to consider those it's a bit unnecessary.

SCSI hard drives are very fast and reliable, but usually more expensive. However if you live in the United States you can get a good deal from a certain store online.

What else would you like to know?
