I prefer network since it takes time for the CD to ship to you. With the network download you just download it although if your connection is like 28.8 Kbps then I would get the CD.

Regards

No, no, I didn't mean in the way of buying software online but rather storing all my software on the network for workstation installs rather than carring a case of cds with me.

Storing software? as in MS Office 2002, Photoshop, software like that?

Well, make sure it's legal (I believe you can make one backup copy only?).

Sure, I think the fastest a 100mbps will transfer is 18MB/sec

CDs are best for achival because they last up to 100 years in the US. It also depends on what speed cd drive you have.

NOTE: if you want a cd to last up to 100 years, you need a good quality CD like Maxell and keep the location of the CDs in a temp-regulated room (room temp is good enough).

Huh?
100 / 8 = 12.5

How did you get 18?

Store it on the network. Its faster and you don't have to load CDs. You can do your games with Alcohol 120%, no need for CDs, just tuck them away safely.

I do all of mine this way and wouldnt go back if you paid me.

The maximum bandwidth of 100baseT is 100mbit (12.5mbytes/sec)...but it's never going to get near that.
