Need Help Please. Fortissimo 7.1 wont work in Windows XP
Hey guys. I have a little problem. I just bought a Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1 Sound card. I also have an Iwill XP333 mobo. When I installed the card I set the jumper to disable the onboard sound, I downloaded the newest drivers (6.09) from Hercules' site and everything would install fine, and in device manager it would say that everything is working and the sound is set to go through the card but nothing is coming out. No system sounds, no Winamp, nothing comes out. So I go to www.windowsupdate.com with the card installed and I see there is a patch for the card. So I download the patch, install it and reboot. Still no sound. I dont know what to do, i have almost given up. I am running WinXP Pro with no SP1 and like I said before an IwillXP333 motherboard that I cant seem to find any conflicts about with the card on the net. If you could help me out, thatd be great. Thanks for everything.

I too have that audio card - nice. First how are you outputting the sound from the card. (ie. I am using the optical out to a surround sound home reciever) In the Gamesurround Fortismo icon in the taskbar, I was having some major issues. I finally found that I needed just the main outputs and maximum 3d acceleration checked in the "other" tab. When you look at the EQ tab, does it show that it is playing anything? Another quirk on the way I have this set up is that "wave" controls the volume. Check in the mixer to make sure everything is maxed. On the main tab, the master volume doesn't affect anything on my system. Hope this helps, Incog

Thanks again guys, card sounds good, tomorow i go to get an optical cable and see what digital sound is like.

I've done that too hoa[x], with all those damn outputs it's bound to happen. That's why I went to the optical... much easier as it won't fit anywhere else *lol*
I'm running xp home with the service pack (*love my cable modem*)

none here for quality... The configuration / tabs are slightly confusing as you can see from my above posts. It took me about 1/2 hr to get it configured the way I wanted. I wouldn't even bother with the driver cd... just download the current driver's b4 installing the card.

yea so far everything sounds great, you can really feel an oomph with the digital sound. i have it hooked up to a Kenwood home theater system with a passive subwoofer, but like I said, the digital sound has really given the subwoofer a kick it did not have before, clearer highs. Everything sounds great. I am really happy with it
