FTP/WEBserver/firewall
Instead of flooding the fourm with 3 threads I will just use one. I just got dsl and want to do this:
1.Setup a FTP server
2.Setup a WebServer with redhat 9.
3.Setup a Computer to do I.P.cop
How Do I go about doing these.

Well, are you gonna do them all on one PC? Can be done, just a matter of tweaking RH 9.
Or, are you gonna have three separate PC's for this?
Will make a difference in how to set it up.
I would have one single PC for dedicated firewall, and one for web/FTP server. More secure with less holes that way. I'd use IPCop for the firewall, and place the web/FTP server on a DMZ to make it safe for your LAN against attacks. That's my opinion, anyhow.
Cheers
Mick

2 Computers
What I have sitting around is a 366MHZ (firewall). And a 500MHZ for the web/FTP.

Sounds perfect!
Just check out the IPCop link for how to install it. Will need 3 NICs in the IPCop box (one for LAN, one for DSL modem, one for DMZ), so make usre the mobo can fit them.
Apache for the webserver is already in RH 9, and I'm sure it has FTP server software but I've never used it. (I got a win box for FTP/web server ).
Sounds like you got all ya need, U_S!
Cheers
Mick

Would you know off hand how much space IP comp takes up?
And I am kinda lost on that site.

Will fit on a 600MB drive with lots of space to spare, but I'd recommend at least 1G drive so the logs don't fill up too much. 2G if you wanna use internet filtering (Dan's Guardian).
Anything bigger than that will be wasted space, basically.
Cheers

Try just d/loading the documentation on installation and configuration for starters. Don't worry about FAQ's or add-ons just yet. Just get it up and running first.
Cheers

Ya the thing is I have to have it work good. Beacuse this connection is shared with my mom, sister and dad(they are almost never on). But so when it goes up and running they can do all there stuff.

IPcop is almost bulletproof and foolproof. It runs here at home where I have 3 other pretty clueless users who don't even know how to get into it's control panel!
But if anything happens with the cable connection (like a power failure) they can just reboot the machine (turn it off and on again), and it runs perfectly!
Once you get it running you can basically forget it is there.
Cheers
