Multiple hardware devices in device manager

I'm running Windows XP Pro. what I'm getting are multiple hardware entries in my device manager. Namely, my processor and IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. This shows up as two,3 gig processors and two cd-roms and rw's.(IDE1 and IDE2)
I hope this is explained correctly. I've tried uninstalling all. When I reboot, the wizard automatically re-installs. Then I have two of the items again. Obviously, this is a concern I would imagine. I read somewhere about registry editing but can't seem to find it again.

The correct word would be "duplicate" not multiple. anyone know what to do?

Yes. I've done that. It re-installs,then when I open up device manager, I've got two Ultra ATA storage controllers, two Primary IDE, and two Secondary IDE. If I scroll down to processors, I've got two P4 3.00 Ghz processors. Wow, 6ghz. without overclocking! No,seriously,is this a big deal or not? I built it myself and seems to run fine but if fixing this could help make something run better/faster, I'd like to fix.

I have latest drivers for everything on my system. I'm a total freak when it comes to that stuff. As I'm looking into this a little bit further, i'm thinking it's normal. System tools is showing me two processors. And DXDiag is showing 2 processors in parenthesis. This is the first system I've put together with Hyper-threading/ 800fsb and every test looks normal so maybe i'll leave it alone.

With A P4 or Celeron and motherboard that supports hyper-threading I believe it does show up twice in the device manager.

I am not sure about the cd-roms or ide devices showing up twice.
