APEX DVD warranty replacement

Got a free Apex 1600 when I signed up with Sprint Fast Connect about 10 months ago and now it's locking up and over-heating. It's still under parts warranty. Called tech support and they said they'd replace it if I ship it to California (from Florida) and send a check for $39 for the labor. Is it worth it?

Personally I think a warranty is a warranty...why are they charging you other than shipping?
I would not do it...It is considered a "cheapy" player and I have read alot of negative comments on it...Wally world has similar cheapies for under $50 and Im sure you could find a bettewr deal somewhere...
Did you try calling Sprint to complain and ask for replacement...make comment on order of...well if your unwilling to stand behind the quality of an offer you made me, then what will you do when its my service having a problem...
or something like... you know what I mean...

I had same problem the solution was simply turning a screw inside the unit. go to www.nerd-out.com and you will find directions on how to do it, it takes about 10 secinds to fix once you open the case. Good Luck.

I've spent hours on that site jon boy but have not found the solution of which you speak, much less any reference to freezing. If you have a direct link to the discussion or remedy I would appreciate the help.
