best software firewall?

ok, i got infected with that stupid virus that so many have been effected by recently. i have removed it but don't want this to happen again. so......... since i don't have a router, i think i will use a software firewall. i need to know what ones u guys think are the best ones and why?

Well for windows I would sugest zone alarm or norton IS

Zonealarm. It's free and it's customizable and it doesn't take more resources then it needs like Norton's does.

I love my Sygate Personal Firewall. Today it stopped 4 DOS attacks on me which it called "Code Red".

Norton Internet Security gets my vote. It's based on the best software firewall ever which was the almost forgotten @Guard, but with a better GUI and a few more tweaks.
