A7N8X-X will Not post

Ok thought I had all my problems fixed
SYSTEM
A7N8X-X- XP2600
2X 512 MB PC2700 DDR
Maxtor 80 G 7200 8mb
Nvidia 5200

I flashed my bios to the New 1.05 with no problems I contacted ASUS about wanting to set the Machine up for Dual channel DDR.

They told me to reset CMOS by using the jumper and removing the battery. Did that and now the machine will not post and there are no beeps???????.

If I remove the ram or the video card I get beeps.......

anyone have any Ideas. I donot have my email up so I will have to keep checking here for any help.
Thanks

did you put the jumper back to the orginal settings?

to run the computer in dual channel you either put both ram into the blue slots.

or put on in slot 1 and one in slot 3

you made sure you grounded yourself right? do you get a green light on the motherboard?

Yep put the jumper back in the correct place.

memory just in slot 1 one (only using one stick and have tried both sticks in all the slots)

Grounded good uded an ESD strap.

I am thinking CPU is dead because the board does give the beep codes when the ram and video card are removed.???

Try unplugging the AC power cord from the PSU for about 10 seconds, then reconnect. Then try to power up.

When you removed the battery and jumper, was the power cord still connected to the PSU? With motherboards and ATX power supplies, even though your pc is off there is still some power on the motherboard. Thats why that green led is lit up. Whenever you work on your pc make sure the power cable is unplugged.

Reconnect your ide cables, mouse and keyboard. Basically reconnect all cables but only leave the video card in. Leave out all other cards. Use only one stick of memory. Try to power up one more time. If it doesn't work you need a way to test your processor and, or motherboard.
