ok i've mentioned these people before. they wanted me to build a system for them then they figured that HELL i mean Dell was the way to go. Cause of the warranty. I told them that i could get a waranty through newegg that would cover for a year just like Dell. Now they are swaying back and forth unsure of what they want. So you guys tell me...heres my comparison i worked up. what would you do????

don't bother with the dell. especially with the integrated sound and video. what a waste that is. Most of your hardware will have a warranty outside of newegg from the manufacture.

now that i read over your post who is "they"? and what will they be doing with this machine? gaming word proccesing? If you build it yourself you will have to support it. and im telling you this will get old fast if they keep messing things up. If you get them a dell they will call dell and ask for there help. not you which is nice.

$783 for that stuff? I would think it would be less. What kind of motherboard were you planning on for that?

The Pentium 4 will make a lot less noise to cool than the 2000+

they are using it mostly for internet and word processing. light gaming. using this board the the LCD is one of the things that jacks the price up. that and the case which is a fancy case that they thought "looked cool" its nice ohh...and i have to get Win XP full version not just upgrade. they have no other os to install.

they have an HP now and i fix it whenever they mess it up now anyway. they rarely do anything there comp now has a 30gb hard drive and they haven't even used 10Gb's yet. they never download or install anythign cause they think it will use all the hard drive space.
****************
forgot to mention with dell they wont even ship it out till the 20th with me they'll be using it by that night.

Just my opinion, but I would make the hard drive a 7200 rpm so data can be accessed a little quicker......a little better performance for a small amount of cash difference......

i agree i just did that so it would match the DELL as best i could so these people could see what was going on..they dont care though data speed isnt a problem for them as i said they are only doing word processing and internet the games played are usually net based. Hearts, chess,....POGO stuff.
