compaq 2540

I am not looking for operating system just the bios that will allow me to reload an operating system. They make the restore disks for all the 2540's the same except for the nic card which I have changer anyway. If you know of a way to get the restore downloades I would be greatfull. Having to buy a new disk is a last option because the PC is an old one and not worth spending much money on.

Need some more info. Is this a desktop or a laptop? I'm not very fimiliar with Compaq's numbering scheme so I can't give you much help without more info.

It is a desktop. It wont let me install any windows. I have an older one and it allows me to install Windows 2000 with out any problemsbut this one keeps acting up. The origional restore disk is someplace inBC with the people that gave the PC to the kid that I am trying to fix it for. Any restore disk for the presario should work and if not it should get me the bios settings that I need to install the software.

restore disk can be obtained from the manufactor. they do not put them online

And what GZ3 said about restore disks. They are copyrighted and must be purchased from Compaq/HP.
