Geforce FX 5200 freezing problems

I recently updated my pc.
I have an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 2.08 ghz processor.
1 gig of ddram
Geforce FX 5200 graphics card.

I am very pleased with the system except for one thing when i play games such as counter-strike or Day of defeat, it freezes after varying amount of time. Until the point it freezes it works brilliantly i always get 100 fps but then it suddenly just stops and the sound goes off, or it stops and keeps repeating the same sound.

I am not really sure what is causing it. I think it may be that the card doesnt have a fan but im not sure.

Could someone give me some tips on how to fix this. plz

I have had problems like this that I traced back to the sound card driver. You may want to give that a try (replacing the sound card driver). It was with a new chipset and a SB card: never a good combination.

Otherwise, I assume you have done the normal stuff like getting the latest driver from nVidia.com and checking for any game updates...

I hope it works out.
