This seems to be related to the Blaster worm that just got announced. If you try to update from Microsoft after the worm is active, it apparently messes with your system, when you try to install a service pack. In some cases, finding the file (csrsrv.dll) on a computer that is cleaned from the blaster worm, booting to DOS, and copying the file to the c:\win2k\sys32, allows you to then reboot to windows. You must then clean off the worm, then try to patch with the Windows Sec. Patch. (Symantec has a removal tool on their site.) However, some of computers won't boot to DOS, so I can't say this will always work. Don't boot from the Windows install disk, as this seems to re-install Windows 2K, and then it hangs.
