ASROCK K7S8XE MOTHERBOARD

Further to your request,

I bought the ASROCK K7S8XE MOTHERBOARD from a local supplier and have an Athlon Xp 2400 running, the board is quite stable and very easy to set up, even though reports I have rewad say that this board is no good for overclocking, I have overclocked mine to 2.5 ghz so far and everything seems to run fine.

You know when your getting a good board when you see a decent sized heatsink on the northbridge chipset.

Also you might not be aware but Asrock is a direct Subsidury of ASUS, so the quality is really up to scratch.

The board supports up to 400mhz fsb, and the onboard sound really takes the mickey out of the Creative Audigy.

As a hardened pc enthusiast I would highly recommend this board.

ASROCK K7S8XE BIOS UPGRADE

Further to my last post, I decided to upgrade my bios last night from 1.0 to 1.2. First thing I noticed was a graphical boot menu that now appears with the asrock logo in the middle. This sort of gives you a sence of a more stable enviroment. As for any other differences, I never noticed anything. Even though I managed to overclock my cpu, it would be nice to see those extra overclocking options in future bios upgrades. My overall opinion of this board is that it is a really stable board, and for the casual overclocker will give them a safe margin to overclock. Also has built in cpu protection as well. Good support for FSB up to 400mh, Usb 2 and plenty of USB ports, extremley good sound card, well filtered on Mic line input and more effects than Audigy. Built in LAN, what else can I say. £50 squid I paid worth the extra fiver...
