I would like to buy a switch to share my printer between two computers. I don't know if there is a splitter I can use so both would be on at all times or whether I need a two port switch to hook them together, I do have USB connectoion to printer so I would need that type of connector.

If you are on a LAN (behind a router or proxy) you could always just create a home network and share the printer on one of the computers. That way, you can print from either computer as long as the computer connected to the printer is on.
If you don't have a LAN setup, you could always use this switch.
It looks pretty neat but I'm not sure how credible the site is. Always be careful when buying online.
I have a network but even though many members have tried to help share the printer on the network I have been unable to do so. Thank you for the switch site.

Let me try once. I just need you to answer some questions.
1. What OS do the computers have?
2. When you go to My Network Places, can one computer see the other?
3. If they can see each other, can the computers transfer files between them?
You are a real bear for punishment but I would be happy if you could help me. My primary computer is a Win XP and the other is a Win98. The computers see each other and they do transfer files. I don't understand why they won't share the printer. Thanks for your kind message. Printer is an HP psc 750.

I will assume the printer is on the XP computer.
On the XP computer, create a new user account with the exact same user name and password that you use on your Win98 machine. If you don't have a username and password for your Win98 machine, you will have to create one (I forget how, I haven't used 98 in a long time).
On whichever computer the printer is connected to. Go to printers (it's in the control panel), right click on your printer and hit properties. There should be a tab that says "sharing". On that tab it should have a box for a name to share it as. Set the name of the printer.
Go onto the other computer and go into printers. Hit "Add Printer" and search for a network printer. Tell me if it finds or doesn't find the network printer.
the files you cannot find are probably related to the drivers for the printer. try looking for them on the installation disk/cd that came with the printer
