Audigy 2 Problem with Monsoon MH-505 speakers

I recently upgraded my speakers and soundcard to a set of Monsoon MH-505 5.1 speakers and OEM Audigy 2 soundcard. Before the Audigy 2 came, I hooked up the speakers to my old soundblaster live! and everything worked fine. THen after I installed the Audigy and configures my speakers, my computer sometimes hang for 5-10 secs while my speakers emit this annoying beep sound. It tends to do it randomly and it's not a specific speaker either. I installed the latest drivers from creative.com so I dunno what the problem is. All the cables are connected right too...help?

my brother's friend had the same problem when he installed the audigy2 and hooked his klipsch 4.1s.

the system would lockup and either hang for a few seconds - or shutdown altogether.

i did everything humanly possible - including formatting the hard drive, re-installing windows 98 and even installing the audigy to different pci slots/irq.

his system would not take the card. maybe an update to the bios was necessary or maybe something i havent thought of yet - but he opted for the extigy afterwards.

we later got a hold of an xp disc and installed it on his pc - but i didnt get a chance to see if the aud2 wouldve worked in his system under xp - so i dont really know.

try installing xp - i suspect (from reading other complaints) that it may have to do with lack-of-support on win98 platforms.

if u already have xp installed - download some service packs (1 and 2). see if that helps.

if it doesnt - try installing the audigy2 onto different slots.

if that doesnt work - i would hesitate to format the whole hd - but if u want to try - go ahead.

if it still doesnt work - get something else, nothing is worth that much trouble.

btw, i have an aud2 hooked to my system and it works perfectly fine.

Contunuing tus discussion about audigy 2 and system hangs.
I have an audigy 2 platinum to which I've connected Creative's Inspire 6.1 6700 speakers.
I have XP and windows 2000 professional, both systems hangs, with or without annoying beep. And the system doesn't come back.
I've replaced the card into another slot (closer to the grafic card, where the bus signals should be stronger and clearer), it helped a bit but the problem is still there. As an example, I can't watch DVDs, after a few seconds I hear the beeeeeee-sound and the system is dead.
It is possible that it has to do with old hardware? My motherboard, ASUS A7V-E is from 2000 and the grafic card, ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 128, is from 1999?

Thank you, ninjamyst!
I found a BIOS from 2002 for my motherboard and flashed it and it seems to have cured the problem
