motherboard question please help

ok i got some ram and the first one i got it went in fine but the second one it it didnt wont to go in good so i go to take it out and the little clip broke that holds the ram in do you think it hurt the mobo any i had to press a little hard but the mobo looks fine what do yal thank please tell me what you guys think because it is bothering me now thanks

If you're careful it shouldn't pop out...but if you don't want to risk it you should RMA it.

ok i got 3 slot so i was going to put it in dimm 3 and 2 so i moved it to dimm 1 and 2 instead i think the computer place can replace that part it look like it just slides in i aint going to use that slot so do you think i will be ok

You NEED to have the first stick in DIMM 1 ... the second needs to go in DIMM 2 unless you have a dual channel capabile motherboard, in which case DIMM 3 would be best.

my dimm 3 is got the broke clip but can i still use it in 1 and 2 will it still work in dual channel without hurting something i dont care if i dont have dimm 3 as long as the computer works fine and i was wondering what is dual channel? and i thank you for making me fell better so i no i can keep my new motherboard thank you

Okay, you have dual channel...then to use the dual channel you need the RAM in slots 1 and 3. Slot 2 is just a second slot for the first channel (slots 1 and 2 = first channel; slot 3 = second channel)

so i can use it in 1 and 2 right for dual channel and what does dual channel do?
