Kids Remote Procedure Call?

My friend has windows xp and when he tries to surf on the net everything is fine until all of a sudden an error message appears when trying to open a new site. The error: REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL is displayed and when you click the window to close the whole internet explorer window shuts down. What could be the problem with this? he just got a new connection with a new internet service provider and he can connect to the internet, there's just that little problem. Please help.

you have a virus. It is the Blaster.Worm virus. a fix is described below.
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/viru...WORM_MSBLAST.A

removal is very easy and can be done with no data loss. Just follow the instructions, update your virus scanner to the latest definitions and do a full scan after removing the active virus on your system(using the method described in the link)

More info.

Fix it and then get a firewall up.

In win XP PRo is there a command to enter into the "Run" screen to shutdown the RPC. I heard the command was "Shutdown-A", I have tried several variable of this with no success.
