Systems Help playing AC3 audio in divX player!!

Hello!
I got a new movie (I will not say where from) but I cannot seem to play it in divX. I have the latest version of divX and I get this message:
Error Audio Tag (8196 I think that's the number). Cannot playback sound.

The number isn't really important, as the problem has to do with the AC3 sound that the video is encoded in. So I searched on the internet and found that there was a codec that I could download to decode AC3 sound, but it did not work (Nemo codec).

The only problem is, is that the video plays, but there is no sound So, then I went into BSplayer and it played the sound, but the picture was garbled, with red and green squares. So:
DivX: No sound, but perfect picture;
BSplayer (and Windows Media): Sound, but horrible picture (green squares and skips).

Has anyone had this problem, and how do I fix it? I did download an AC3 codec, but it didn't work either!

Thanks for your advice!

PS: I'm having trouble with the playback on one of the DVDs that I ripped (my own copy). I encoded the video at a pretty high quality (572 by 700 or something) but sometimes the frames stick and skip. Does anyone know why it's doing this? My machine is great, XP 2200 and 1 GB of RAM, so I don't know why it's doing this.
Thanks!!!
-brad

What program(s) are you using to encode your DVD's?

And at the high res rip, what file size did you get? At that high of res, you're going to need a monsterous file size to get a decent compression ration and make it look good.

As for the AC3, some of my favorite DVD's that I ripped onto my big drive had the audio just muxed as AC3, and some players just didn't like it. Haven't tried many, but the Playa wouldn't play them. WMP9 had no problem, though.

The file size of the high res is about 952 MB.

I use Gordian Knot for ripping DVDs and it uses Smartripper and DVD2AVI and other things.

The AC3 problem is puzzling, as many have that problem. Does anyone know??
