Creating Partitions on Used HDD?

Fellow Members:

I have a used IBM 60GB HDD that I'm attempting to prepare to reuse.

I'm using Win2KPro on my Maxtor boot drive but eventually this IBM HDD will be moved to a Win98se box. I've cabled this HDD as a Secondary slave.

I deleted all of the partitions using Win2KPro's Disk Management, so the entire 60GB is unallocated. Where do I go from here?

Would someone remind me of the best way to prep this HDD for use? It is going to be used solely for storage.

Because I always forget, how does one go about setting the Primary, Extended and Logical partitions?

Thx.

Brangwen

Here you go:

Make sure you do FAT32 not NTFS.

Bill:

I appreciate the post!

Too late, however.

I still do not have the answer, though I shall read the link you were kind enough to forward. I tried just about everything using Disk Management but to no avail, so I left the entire 60GB HDD unallocated and my sister (who I'm sending the HDD to) can use Partition Magic under Win98se to partition and format the HDD.

Again, thx.

I look forward to reading what's at the end of the link!

Bill:

Actually she does. I have given TechIMO's site name out to three people that I can think of off hand. It amazes me how all three of them "refuse" to go "online" to ask a question.

I suppose it's some kind of phobia? Too bad, as there's a wealth of info here.

Thx.
