SCSI drives have been running at these speeds for a while ... they get HOT though.

I dont think there are any 15k IDE/SATA drives. I have a 10k SCSI drive in my workstation at work, nothing too spectacular. We have 15k SCSI drives in the newer servers but I havent benchmarked them.

Oh, sorry guys
The 15k Seagate IS is nmot SATA, its SCSI
Whats the difference btw? Is the SCSI for servers?
Although 10k must be good aswell but I would wait a few years because they will be more cheaper and with more space! lol

Regards

SCSI drives don't necessarily have to be for servers. One of my desktops uses a SCSI HDD and all it's used for is mostly web surfing.

Just because it's a 15k/10k RPM drive doesn't mean that it will perform incredibly well. For most folks a 7200 RPM drive is more than enough. If you REALLY want to try a 10K RPM drive, here's a cheap one for $15.99 here .

Surplus Computers sells adaptec 2940uw cards for $30 here

They also have LSI Logic Ultra 160 adapters for $70.

You'll need 80-pin SCA to 68-pin adapters for each drive.

These drives get hot so you may want to mount them in a bay-fan.
