Is it better to close the drive door by gently pushing the tray in or...by using the button to do the job?
I know this sounds silly but my tech goes crazy when I shut the tray door by pushing it.
Thanks, Don
I'm sure it's *better* to push the button but closing it by giving it a slight nudge can't destroy it unless you get carried away. I push mine in every now and then when I can't get to the button with ease, and always have...never had a problem with trays not opening right.
It doesn't matter as long as you are not banging it with a fist. It is meant to close either way, unless it is a really old CD Rom, then they are not meant to close without the button, although that never stopped me either

As my case stands on the floor, I close mine by hand.
Haven't seen any manufacturer claiming that closing manually causes more wear and tear than using the button.
Not in recent modern drives anyway. As said before...a gentle push and not whacking it in...
