about VPR MATRIX hardware

hi guys i have a vpr matrix and when i bought it i was told that i have a dvd burner, i bought some dvd r by sony, i put it and and nothing happens at all, if anyone could help me it would be great, and also this is my first post and i dont nkow much on how to work around this board, so i just put it in here, sorry if its in the wrong place, but any help would be nice

DVD burners are funny, because there are actually 2 kinds of burnable DVD's, the + and -. I doubt if its a VPR Matrix machine that it has a combination drive, so make sure to check that you are using the correct DVD-R. Also, system specs would be great.

do you just put it in and wait for something to happen? chances are nothings going to unless some piece of software is set up to open itself when a blank disc is inserted. try opening whatever burning software you are going to use and seeing if the drive shows as havign a disc in it

Well if its windows XP, it should prompt you to do something about the blank CD, so I dont think thats the issue.

i dn if win xp does that for writeable dvds - check the format like wannabe said and then if it doesn't show up in your burning software then something else is wrong.

hey guys thanks for the replys i do have xp and usually when i put in a cdR it prompts me but it doesnt on this

i dotn know if this is the info you need but it says under
DVD/CD-ROMS drivers in the device manager that i have a
_NEC CD-RW NR-92000A
LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163D

so it doesnt even look like i have one huh?
ugh i dunno lol
and also, do i need to use software or something like that? and if so what is it called? thanks

Looks like you have a DVD drive and a CD burner. If you bought it because it had a DVD burner, you should either take it back or call the place you bought it from.
