Recom. Mobo for the Average User

I've building a computer for my parents and my little brother, and I wanted to know a good motherboard to use, the only real things they will be doing is word processing, web browsing, and my brother would probably play a few 2 for the price of 1 computer games :P (still he may play some of my games, WCIII, Deus Ex, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, etc.). And since I'm not a real expert in motherboards, I wanted to hear your takes on it.

What processor are you planning on going with? AMD or Intel?

Too slow!

AMD or pentium?

I like the ECS K7S5A for an all around AMD board. It's usually less than $60 and accepts both popular types of ram, the DDR and the (drawing a blank, someone please remind me, SDRAM?)

There are a lot of people with threads on it, but a lot of that s because it's so widely used. Just make sureyou have a good PSU and decent ram to go with it.

I second the K7s5a. I have that as a board in my main rig, b/c I was on a severe budget when my old one went out. I have been happy with it. It isn't the best chipset, but for average gaming and such with my GeForce 4, it does the job well.

The best chipset is the nForce2, but you'd pay over $100 for any mobo with that chipset.

There are Nforce2 chipsets mobos for under$100. But the ECS is the best for the price. That was in my main box until I got my new nforce2 board. And I have one in my moms.

Frys has weekly specials on K7S5A combos with CPUs that come to the same price youd pay for the processor alone...you dont have your location filled in on your profile so I have no way of Knowing if your near one or not but it is an option...
They are a very good board...I'm running one in My main rig I'm typing on now.

Look good to you guys? The only thing I'm not really sure on yet is the case, the one I picked is good but I'm not too sure of the cooling capabilities of a fan blowing in on the side and on blowing out at the top.
