Best Linux for a Noob (except Mandrake please)

Hey Mates,

I want to know your opinions of the best Linux for a newbie. Personally I have used Mandrake and its okay but Im still not satisfied. Are they others that can fit my needs? I did a poll to make it easier. If you choose the option other please specify. I havent tried RedHat but I have tried SuSE though and I liked it a lot, but they currently have only eval-version, not complete Anything would be appreciated. Thanks

RedHat or SuSE would be a good place to start IMO. FreeBSD is nothing to do with linux so not quite sure where that option came from

I would give Redhat a shot. Peer pressure from people certain people (*COUGH* Eddy wasn't one of them. ) has me using Debian along with Mandrake. (Only took me about 7 installs to get it almost right. )

Yeah RedHat is a pretty nice distro for a person new to Linux. Heck, I'm still using it.

I would consider Lycoris a good 1st distro as well as Knoppix.

If money is not an issue Libranet is a nice debian based distro. Great support too.
