Data recovery possible after format?

Is it possible to recover data after a HD is formatted?

I'm having this issue with my HD not showing up anything but blibber blabber, because I plugged in a new MOBO/processor and it won't boot correctly. It was having the "NTLDR is missing" thingy, but I realized when I looked at the drive it's complete screwed up. All the files that were in there originally are not showing up and when placed as a secondary HD it gives me this funky jazz about not being accessable.

My only option at this point seems to be formatting the HD, but I have so much work on there I couldn't imagine losing forever.... I know there's data recovery programs out there, but is it even possible to recover data after a HD has been formatted?

Have a look here - - -

had similar problems myself but sorted, finally - - - if this link makes no sense will point you to a 'fuller explanation ' on one of the other forums.
I don't think you want to format if you want to retain the data on there, though in the 'good old days', it was possible to, having formatted and realised you didn't want to, there was an 'unformat' command- - -which, well, un-formatted.

Tried many tools.. the best one is R-Studio .. they have 2 apps, one for FAT and another for NTFS.. dont loose time and go straight to that tool, if this does not help then .. well, good luck
