I'm going still with AMD, probably 3000+ or 3200+.
There's choices out there but i always had AMD and would like to go with it again.

I'm reading about the Opteron CPU, never used one before so i don't know what's best for dual processor.
Any recommendation also on that would be great

Go to AMD.com and type Dual in their search box. You'll see a ton of stuff.

AMD's only dual chipset(s) support a 266 MHz FSB speed at best, so your Bartons won't be able to make full use of their 333/400 MHz capability. Plus the boards may not have a BIOS for those chips, since they are XP processors and not MPs. Sure, XPs can be modded to act as MPs, but it's not often worthwhile. I'd like to get a dual solution, AMD-based, but I'd wait for something newer.

It won't run XP's modified to be MPs as they're 333mhz/400mhz at those ratings...but the 2800+ MP processor is 266mhz FSB
