I.D. This MoBo E139761

Greetings Tekkies,

MoBo for identification:

Socket 7, 3 PCI, 3 ISA, ATX form factor, appears to support 3 (!) CD-ROM sound patch cords, 2 USB aft.

BIOS reads:

AMI BIOS 1992
1.00.07.DQ0T UAV

On silkscreen:

[Top]
E139761

[White Stickers]
3M1X2YY 9709

3/08/97
D67B8070

[On Chips]
Intel PCiSet
SB82371SB

SMC
FDC37C932FR

ATi
3D RageII

I've searched and initial results pointed me towards a Gateway OEM TTE430vX 2 Dimm, but that was not a match

According to the AMI BIOS website the BIOS indicates that this is a Gateway OEM board

Another search indicated that it is a IBM PC PL 330 ProMMX I have not found an image or graphic o confirm whether that is correct or not. The board DOES resemble the Gateway TE430vx with some differences.

I hope to put a K6-III/550 MHz or at least 450 MHz, assuming that it is compatible and I can fine a chip for it. Thus far, I have dropped a Pentium 200MMX in the socket. It will boot, seek out RAM, FDD, CD, HD, etc. and then lock up. I imagine that there may be jumper voltage issues which may be causing this.

QUESTIONS:

1) What is the make and model of this board?

2) Is it compatible with an AMD K6-III/45- - 550 CPU, or at the very least, a K6-2/533 MHz CPU?

Thanks!

You'd probably get more help by posting this in the Motherboards forum.

Smells like an Intel board. While Intel's socket-7 CHIPSETS do run K6 family processors just fine, Intel's own BOARDS had their BIOSes written to specifically NOT allow that.
And even if it does, it's a 66 MHz chipset, meaning that it wouldn't take you beyond 400 MHz anyhow.

A-HA!

Found out the answer:

1.00.xx.DQ0T: Gateway 2000 P5200 ("Hitman" motherboard)
1.00.xx.DQ0T: Gateway 2000 P5200 ("Hitman" motherboard)
http://www.wimsbios.com/index.htm?/numbersami.shtml
http://www.pc-phoenix.de/themen/bios...rd_numbers.htm

Gateway Hitman
Hitman 166 / 200 MHz MMX
BIOS ID String 1.00.07.DQ0T

Now my next question will be:

After I flash the BIOS on this baby, will it be able to take an AMD K6-2/533 MHz CPU? This board is interesting in that it can handle the digital sound inputs from 3 (count 'em!) CD-ROM drives. Given that the case I have for this is a monstrosity with 4 CD-Drive bays, and a new ballsy power supply, this could be a fun machine. (ahem, of course, taking into account that this IS ancient technology)....

its a socket 7 board..so its definitely not a p2..its a P1 board

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3470426569

------

okay...lol..now I see this http://www.alancomputech.com/151-00022-00.html says its a 440bx board which is definitely not a socket 7 board, but rather a p2/p3 type of board.

-----

another socket 7 http://www.vworlds.org/e139761_intel_motherboard.html came in gateways evidently

-----

so looks like there are two different ones...a socket 7 gateway board and a slot1 board.

... and it being an Intel OEM board, it for sure won't run an AMD processor. In fact, Intel's own mainboards of the socket-7 era had their BIOS written to deliberately not fire up when a non-Intel processor is found.

It is a PENTIUM 2 and mine says it's running at 400 MHz and it IS an INTEL processor -- INTEL MOTHERBOARD MU440EX with a SLOT 1 and 2 DIMM slots
-- I put IBM server memory in it and it runs great P100-322-620P I think that's what it said on the stick and it's ECC even though this motherboard is not supposed to support ECC but it works with 1 stick of 128MB

-- I still have the ORIGINAL CD for the Motherboard it if anyone needs it???
