Strange problem with 9800 pro

I am using win xp pro and my specs are:

2.66 p4b
1024MB pc2700
gigabyte GA-8IK1100
9800 pro 256mb

My problem is, in every game I try to play at 16x12 my screen is out of alighnment.......meaning I can only see about 2/3 of the game screen..... I am using a 19 inch monitor and was able to play at 16x12 with my old ti4600. I just swapped in the ati today and everything works great except that.
Is it an ATI thing? Am I missing something in the control panel?

Thanks for the help.

It recognizes it as a standard monitor(which it always has) and the brand is optiquest.

It sounds like a refresh rate issue. Can you raise the refresh rate for the API you are using to render the games?

Ok, here is what I just did to get it to work. In the ati control panel>displays>monitor; the maximum resolution it was picking up was 1280x1024 for some reason. I switched it to 16x12 with a refresh of 60 and it seems to be ok. All advice would be welcome however and thanks for your input so far.

Hi everyone....

Having exactly the same problem as mentioned above.
Driving me mental~!

Config:
Ati Radeon 9800Pro 256MB [Sapphire]
monitor: Iiyama Vision Master 502 21" [S102GT]

all resolutions are ok,
exept for 1600x1200 >>
screen shows only 3/4 of desktop;
it moves when cursor is at border of screen.
Tried switching from 85hz to 60hz,
but that makes no difference

anyone who knows how to fix this?

Misc

Finally I found it...

Like I expected it had something to do with software settings.

The way to fix it:

open Display Props > Settings > Advanced > Displays

here you can find the monitor & change the props when you click on it
[my monitor was fixed to 1280x1024]

untag "use DDC information" > then you can change the resolution &
refresh rate [changed mine to 1600x1200@85Hz]

& voila: I'm in 1600x1200 game heaven now
