Well first off, what kind of cooling are you using? You risk perhaps burning out your graphics card/pci cards (because the P4S533-E does not have AGP/PCI lock) but that's about it. That chip has been known to be a good overclocker, so boot into BIOS (press delete when your computer is booting) and in the advanced menu, there is a frequency clock which should be at 133/33. I would set it to 166/33 and try to boot, chances are it will work because that chip has been known to have lots of headroom, if it doesn't, the asus post reporting program will tell you, just reboot and go back into BIOS and change it back to 133/33 and we can work from there. Keep us posted

actrually i was thinking that as well, im using the stock cooling, but i think i can crank up the fan a few rpms coz its speed controled, ya the stock frequency clock is 133/33 which gives me my 2394, i was thinking to be safe go with 150 to bring me up to 2700. still dont know if i will need more cooling for the cpu. Too bad intel locked the multiplier or i could get this up pretty high.

RESULTS:

i sped up the fsb and chekd using PC chek program to see i was up to 2490 and i had only went up to 134/34. But as soon as i went to play some counter strike my cpu tempurature jumped from 35 to 47 so i just un o/c it. im going to buy a thermaltake fan today. any suggestions on keeping my CPU cold?

How is your temp looking?

From what I have seen, that P4 2.4 will handle 2.7 on stock HSF and even 2.8, but if you want to OC that high, I would get some thermal compound from the net or a local PC hardware store, it would drop those temps by 6-10 C.

Excellent with ASUS p4p800

p4 2.4HT (800fsb) overclocked to 3.12Ghz w/ P4P800-Delux mobo.

its alot easier to overclock with an ASUS p4p800 i have a p4 2.4. the BIOS allows you to set the percentage you want to overclock to.

ASUS P4P800-Delux

it's not the mobo, it's the proc. the "c" series (800 fsb) overclock like crazy.

2.4 800

Hey i have the same setup a 2.4 800fsb with a P4C800 Deluxe board and i can't seem to over clock it at all. I have alot of Pci cards but if i am not mistaken that is locked and does not change with the fsb on this board. I can't seem to even goto 2500 bc the bios says that my over clock failed. I am runing PC3500 hyperX by kingston i have a termaltake volcano 7+ on the proc using artic silver 3. I also have a antec 550watt ps the one that u can adjust the voltages externaly. So i dunno the only thing i can think of is maybe my memory timmings are to aggresive, but i coulda sworn i adjusted them higher when i tryed to over clock it. If any one can give advice or sugest memory timmings i would be very grateful. O i dunno if it matters but i have almost every pci slot filled including and extra video card bc i run 3 monitors.
