Hi all.

Earlier in the week i posted that my comp would not boot. I brought it to techs and they said my mobo was gone. So i went out and bought a new mobo.

I inserted into the case and plugged everything else in. Turned it on fine and had to set up the cmos again. When that was finally done i got to log on. But no sound.

Check the plugins and they were fine. Made sure i had installed all the drivers for the mobo to. Check to see if the software for volume control was ok and it was. No clue why no sound will come out.

Do i have to re-install windows all over again? Or os there something else to do?

Thanx.

Did you re-install windows after you inserted the new mobo?

If you didn't, you may need to un-install the old drivers before installing the new ones.

Probly is silly question, but have you checked that the on-board sound is enabled in BIOS?

My guess is that the old drivers from the old mobo are interfering with the new drivers.

Not sure, but you may need to re-install DX after you have installed the new drivers (after you have un-installed the old ones) as I think that can mess it up.

Ok...i checked the on board bios and it was enabled. ANd yes i did do a reformat. But i have no sound coming out. I also installed the drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard so i could hev sound. But thereis none. So uninstalled the drivers and disabled the on board sound and installed a sound card. Rebooted and installed drivers. Rebooted again and i still have no sound. I don't know whats wrong. Any clues?

P.S.

i run win xp

1. Speakers plugged into the correct output on sound card?
2. Speakers have been tested on a computer that has sound?
3. Speaker volume turned up?
4. Sounds are enabled in the volume control panel through XP and your sound card software?
